Carrying on a legacy

It's in my blood

Justice Madan Mohan Punchhi (10 October 1933 – 17 June 2015) was a lawyer, public prosecutor for the Chandigarh Administration, Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court till he became the 28th Chief Justice of India from 18 January 1998 until his retirement on 9 October 1998. Justice Punchhi, or Nana, as I called him was a man of integrity and brilliance.

In fact, I still remember quoting a judgment of his during a jurisprudence presentation while at law school, in which he quoted and explained a Shloka from the Garud Puran to explain the right of self-preservation. Till date, I am amazed at the clarity of thought with which he could draw parallels between the present situation and our scriptures and use that to arrive at a distinctive law point.

Balramji Dass Tandon (1 November 1927 – 14 August 2018) was a freedom fighter, a seven times MLA from Amritsar, Cabinet Minister in the Government of Punjab, President of BJP Punjab, and finally, the Governor of Chhattisgarh at the peak of his political career. My Dada was an extraordinary and sincere man.

Till date I remember this magnanimity which is verily exemplified in a story that made news in June 2018. While he was Governor, he declined the salary hike for sitting Governors announced by the Centre and wrote to the Accountant General (Audit), Chhattisgarh, that he would like to continue drawing salary on the old scale because in the twilight years of his life, his needs were few and he did not require more than he was already getting.

Professionalism at your doorstep

Qualified for excellence

Jindal Global Law School

I completed my B.B.A. – LL.B. (Hons) and Master of Laws (LL.M.) from JGU. At JGU I achieved my academic goals, interned at India’s premium law firms, created a network of with professionals across the country, got mentorship from some brilliant minds, authored numerous papers and held various positions of responsibility. But most importantly, I remain indebted to JGU because its atmosphere entrenched in me many qualities such as professionalism, work ethics, determination and the drive to strive for excellence.

Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School

My relationship with Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, is my biggest strength and the essence of my moral fiber. I am honored to have had the opportunity of studying in his school; securing the best academic scores of my life while I was there; and holding various positions of responsibility. While studying there, I developed an analytical mindset as well as an acceptance that many components come together to create a society and it is our duty as responsible citizens of the country to take everyone along and empathize with those lesser fortunate.

National Taiwan University

By spending a semester abroad at Taiwan at NTU, I networked with professionals from all over the globe and built an understanding and acceptance of a varied set of cultures and practices. My most cherished memory of NTU, was a program called International Companions for Learning (ICL) wherein, I taught 3 Taiwanese students about Indian culture.

St.John's High School

The basic building blocks of my education were laid in the portals of St. John’s High School. Though I was a mischievous child, the teachers made sure that the basics of languages, character, camaraderie, accountability, responsibility, and brotherhood were imbued into my persona. Looking back, I fondly remember being the best singer and basketball player of my school.
